Factors and multiples are the two main parts of a multiplication.

## What are factors?

Factors are the numbers that are multiplied to get the multiple in a multiplication.

In the above example, 2 and 4 are the factors. Therefore according to the above multiplication 2 and 4 are the factors of 8.

### Some numbers have only two factors. They are called Prime numbers.

### Some numbers have more than two factors. They are called Composite Numbers.

### But number one is neither prime nor composite because it has only one factor.

## What are multiples?

Multiples are the answers or the products of multiplications that you get after multiplying the factors.

In the above example 8 is the multiple.
